Even a small light can dispel great darkness

We write to you from Israel with heavy hearts and deep emotion following the recent terrorist attack that struck your community.

As senior executives from Israel’s private sector, currently participating in an initiative to contribute our experience and leadership to the public sector, we felt it was essential to reach out ,not only as professionals, but first and foremost as members of one people.

Since October 7, the Jewish community of Australia has stood with Israel with strength, courage, generosity, and moral clarity. Your unwavering support, your solidarity, and your voice have been a source of comfort and strength for us in some of our darkest moments. We do not take this for granted.

Today, we wish to say clearly: you are not alone.

We feel a profound sense of belonging to the great Jewish family that connects us across continents and oceans. The pain you feel is our pain. The resilience you demonstrate strengthens us all. We are here to support you, each of us as individuals, and all of us together as a group of Israeli leaders, wherever and however we can.

During the days of Hanukkah, we are reminded that even a small light can dispel great darkness. We hope that our presence, our solidarity, and our commitment may serve as that small light, standing with you against fear, hatred, and terror, and a irming life, unity, and hope.
