The troubling political devolution of Elon Musk from from self-described social moderate to trolling neo-reactionary was documented by Richard Cooke in Dark Star: Elon Musk's Political Turning, published by The Jewish Quarterly.
Cooke spoke to The Jewish Independent about Musk's motivations, his shape-shifting public positions, his support of antisemitic conspiracy peddlers, and his effect on online discourse.
Since this conversation, hosted by Melbourne Jewish Book Week and first published in February 2024, Musk has gained world attention with an apparent Nazi salute at President Trump's inauguration and has been named to lead a new department driving government efficiency in the Trump administration.
Cooke's deep research is more important than ever.

Cooke is presenting is a poor understanding and confused analysis of Musk. He is truly a free speech first amendment advocate AND a long and vocal history of being very supportive of Jews and Israel. His issue with Soros is about rejecting the Deep State and corruption of the Democrats and supporters. Cooke makes simplistic and broad assumptions to support his thesis.
