Israel was built on vision, courage and hope — and it’s time to dream again.
At a crossroads following Israel’s greatest challenges to date, The Jewish Independent is hosting Sir Mick Davis and Mike Prashker of The London Initiative in collaboration with The Melbourne Hebrew Congregation. This community-wide conversation will explore the future of Israel’s democracy and the role of the Jewish Diaspora in shaping it. They will be speaking with TJI editor-in-chief Deborah Stone.
The London Initiative brings fresh thinking from its experience linking Israeli and Diaspora leadership to accompany and support the movement for an Israel that we and a majority of Israelis want it to be: strengthening Israeli democracy, advancing a fairer future for all it's citizens and reviving hope for secure peace.
They're not just talking—they're connecting people who are making things happen in Israel with Diaspora Jews ready to be part of that work. And they believe Australian Jews have an important role to play.
This is a moment of genuine opportunity. Israelis are already seizing it—building coalitions, energising movements, imagining what comes next. This evening is about how we, as Diaspora Jews, can be genuine partners in that work.
It is an opportunity to listen, learn, and contribute to a respectful discussion on Israel’s future — one that prizes understanding over agreement and hope over division.
