Australia is considered a dream destination, albeit a faraway one, for many in Israel. Filmed six months after the October 7 attacks and during the subsequent war in Gaza, nine Israeli Australians reflect on the home they left behind, what they have lost and what they have gained. Coming from diverse backgrounds, their stories are different and yet very much the same.
Unique to Israelis and universal to immigrants.
While opinions about Israel were raging across the world, a more human and complex picture of its people emerges through the film. For those who moved from the opposite side of the globe, identity and culture are central to a long and sometimes challenging journey to call Melbourne, Sydney or Mullumbimby home.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with some of the film's contributors, including director and producer Shahar Burla and others.
Presented by The Jewish Independent.
