Hailing from opposite sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Riman Barakat and Peta Jones Pellach represent grassroots movements for non-violent resolution, intercommunal dialogue, and the essential role of women in peacebuilding.
Join The Jewish Independent's General Manager Ilona Lee, who will be in conversation with them about how women are reshaping approaches to conflict resolution, offering an alternative model of cooperation and partnership between Israelis and Palestinians, and exploring what lessons can be applied in Australia for increased social cohesion.
Formed after the 2014 Gaza war, Women Wage Peace (WWP) is the largest women-led peace movement in Israel, with over 45,000 members. The movement spans political, ethnic, and religious divides, and is dedicated to the achievement of a negotiated political resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Founded in 2019 on the East-West boundary of Jerusalem, FeelBeit is a joint Israeli-Palestinian cultural centre that uses the arts to create spaces of dialogue, collaboration, and hope. It emerged from the internationally acclaimed Jerusalem Season of Culture and serves as a living laboratory for coexistence.
