George Steiner is generally regarded as one of the most significant Jewish thinkers of the 20th century. ‘A Long Saturday’, conversations between Steiner and French journalist Laure Adler, is being published this month by the University Of Chicago Press. ‘Judaism goes far beyond Israel…’ [and even the greatest minds make mistakes – in this case on paedophilia].
