Israel needs help fighting BDS - and it’s turning to J Street – J. J. Goldberg – The Forward 19.06.16
Israel is reaching out to J Street, the left-leaning, self-described pro-Israel pro-peace lobby, for help in combatting anti-Israel boycott and divestment efforts. The Israeli cabinet member coordinating anti-BDS efforts, Internal Security Minister Gilad Erdan, has met the director of J Street’s Israel office. In a speech on combatting BDS at the Herzliya Conference on 16 June, he said: ‘“In this fight I see no difference between right and left. There can be organisations with legitimate criticisms of the Government of Israel. I need them no less and maybe even more.’ ‘Anyone who can’t meet with J Street can’t be helpful in fighting anti-Israel delegitimisation,’ said Gidi Grinstein, head of the Reut Institute.
