Given dim current prospects for reaching agreement on a two-state solution, and the likelihood that a one-state solution would lead to domination by one ethnic group or the other, some Israelis and Palestinians (including Israel’s president Rivlin) have been putting a lot of creative thought into potential confederal models for resolving the conflict.
