On a June day in 1986, an audience gathered in Jerusalem for the country’s first screening of Claude Lanzmann’s epic Holocaust documentary.
The Shoah continues to reverberate through Israeli life - “I began drinking after the war. It was very difficult. Claude, you asked for my impression. If you could lick my heart, it would poison you.”
