Controlling how your children demonstrate their Jewishness is as impossible as controlling their beliefs. But creating a child who feels inherently Jewish—with fewer strings attached—may be a more attainable goal for Jewish parents and educators. From this perspective, I can think of no better future for Jewish education in the diaspora than a focus on the Hebrew language.
