Belgium plans to ban ritual slaughter, and Jews are outraged: ‘worst crisis since WWII’ – Shlomo Papirblat – Haaretz 06.04.17
Lawmakers in Flanders and Wallonia agree to ban kosher and halal slaughter by 2019. Table French research showing that animals killed using ritual slaughter methods undergo ‘14 minutes of extreme agony and suffering.’ The national standard in Australia is that all animals must be effectively stunned (unconscious) prior to slaughter and the RSPCA opposes current exemptions for kosher and some halal slaughter (most halal slaughter allows pre-stunning).
