‘I won’t march because I don’t want to be part of something that offends the ultra-Orthodox public and national-religious public.’ Barkat’s remarks came not long after Yigal Levinstein, a rabbi at a pre-army academy in the West Bank, had called gays deviants and after Shira Banki’s father, Ori, had called for ‘everyone who cares for tolerance in Jerusalem and all of Israel’ to attend the march.
