New evidence reveals how Hamas conducted its deadly invasion and why Israel's security was unprepared.
Hamas terrorists took synthetic amphetamines to increase their aggression and domaximum damage to Israelis when invading Israel on October 7.
Their handlers gave them bags of Captagon – a synthetic, amphetamine-type stimulant known on the Arabic drug market as “Abu al-Hilalain” and consumed like candy to endure in battle and promotes feelings of rage, irritability, and impatience that encourage terrorists to murder and torture victims.
The pills were recovered from the pockets of many terrorists killed on Israeli soil.
This stimulant drug, also known as the "cocaine for the poor," allowed the terrorists to commit heinous acts with a sense of calmness and indifference. Simultaneously, it kept them highly alert for extended periods and suppressed their appetite.
The IDF took away weapons from Gaza border communities in recent years, and armed West Bank settlers in the thousands.
A Hamas field manual found on the body of a Hamas fighter and obtained by The Washington Post also illustrate some of the terrorists’ military capabilities and preparations for close-in, bloody killing.
The instructions for “shock troops” also included the best places to stab someone. The “neck in the collarbone area,” “spine” and “underarms” are listed.
The manual is illustrated with a picture of the Palestinian sheikh Abdullah Azzam, a mentor of Osama bin Laden.
Analysis on the Israeli side is also beginning to reveal how Israel was vulnerable to the attack. Haaretz reported that the IDF took away weapons from Gaza border communities in recent years, and armed West Bank settlers in the thousands.
The Israeli army believed that the chance of terrorist incursion after the erection of the border fence was “close to nil”. They removed forces from the area, leaving local security as the last line of defence. “As much as we banged on the table, it didn’t help,” says local security coordinator Rafi Babian.
Israel’s response to the massacre continues to intensify as the war in Gaza enters its third week.
The Israel Air Force struck dozens of high-rise buildings in the northern Gaza Strip in recent days in preparation for a ground operation. According to the Israeli army, the buildings were used by Hamas as both observation points and sniping positions.
