ICC enquiry re ‘the situation in Palestine’ ongoing

On 1 January 2015, the ‘Government of Palestine’ accepted the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court with respect to alleged crimes committed ‘in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem, since June 13, 2014.’ [On 12 June 2014, three Israeli teenagers were kidnapped and murdered in the West Bank.] On 16 January 2015, the ICC Prosecutor opened a preliminary examination of ‘the situation in Palestine.’ Crimes alleged on both sides in the relevant period relate to the Gaza war in 2014 and to settlement activity, demolitions, settler violence, and ill treatment of Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Nada Kiswanson, a legal researcher at Palestinian rights group Al-Haq, claims to have received continuous threats since early 2016 after submitting information to prosecutors.
