Six former PMs release statement on Israel-Hamas conflict, saying Hamas’s ‘mission is to promote hatred’. The Zionist Federation of Australia has praised the six former prime ministers for releasing a statement condemning Hamas.

Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Birmingham says Australia should have voted against the UN General Assembly resolution calling for a truce between Hamas and Israel. The resolution passed with 14 members voting no and 120 voting yes. Australia was one of 45 countries to abstain.

Australia’s ambassador to the UN says the country abstained from a resolution calling for an immediate humanitarian truce because it was “incomplete” and did not recognise the terror group’s responsibility for the October 7 attack against Israel.
