Defence minister, army slam campaign against IDF chief hopeful Golan (Times of Israel)
Defence Minister Avigdor Liberman on Monday dismissed a new campaign to have Maj. Gen. Yair Golan removed from the list of candidates for the position of IDF chief of staff over past controversial remarks, saying the petition will not affect his decision.

The Israel Defence Forces also came out with its own statement of support for Golan — a highly irregular move — saying his “contribution to the security of Israel is great.”
