Doron Almog pipped Mark Regev to head Jewish Agency and immediately came under attack

The job running the world’s largest Jewish not-for-profit has been vacant for a year as parties tussle over candidates.

Ex-Australian Mark Regev was touted as a likely winner, but the victor is a retired senior Israeli military commander, Danny Almog.

Almog was a compromise candidate among the political factions, but religious extremists wasted no time in attacking him over his daughter’s Reform bat mitzvah and his recent attendance at a Reform conference.
