Spotlight: Jamie Reisin

To start, I was a dancer, then discovered music theatre, and screen acting. More recently, choreographing and producing are both something I’m quite passionate, inspired and excited about. My choreographic projects are a way to produce stories I want to tell. I pride myself on versatility, it brings longevity and the ability to work in multiple disciplines.

I began dancing when I was 4 by absolute chance. I happened to go to preschool with Reid Perry, son of Dein Perry. Dein wanted to teach Reid how to tap dance, so he roped in a few mates from preschool and the soccer team. I haven’t looked back. To have an Australian and International icon like Dein Perry as a mentor has been amazing. I guess, it was at about 13 when I decided that I wanted to take it professionally. Reid is still one of my best mates. 22 years of friendship. And we’re both still in the arts.

I’ve recently found that I thrive, when I’m busy and can find more inspiration, when I’m performing, if I’m being creative on the side. I’m currently Dance Captain/Ensemble in Tootsie the musical, choreographing a music video for an up and coming artist and choreographing a part of a show that will be at the Rebel Wilson Theatre. I’ve also been growing my own company, Reisinable Productions.
