Goldstone Gallery showcases four contemporary Jewish artists

Goldstone Gallery has unveiled a new series of exhibitions bringing together four contemporary Jewish artists whose works span glass, paper, ceramics, light and other mediums. Showcased throughout the gallery, the four exhibitions explore the interplay between the tactile and the intangible – how objects can hold emotion, spirituality and memory. After opening last Thursday as part of Melbourne Design Week, they will remain on view until June 14.

Curated by Goldstone Gallery’s artistic director Nina Sanadze, the diverse range of works create an immersive environment that invite visitors into spaces of contemplation, transformation and connection.

In Form & Phenomenon Ilan El’s luminous installations investigate the point where structure dissolves into atmosphere. Using saturated colour, transparency and directional light as primary materials, the works transform architectural space into something sensory and emotional. 

Deborah Wargon’s intricate black paper artworks explore line, shadow, time and ancestral memory through the tension between positive and negative space. 

In Thresholds, Earthen Echoes, ceramic artists Chaya Joffe and Ryan Abramowitz present Jewish ritual objects such as Mezuzot and Seder plates, reinterpreting traditional Judaica through contemporary forms.
