Jewish, Christian, Muslim leaders speak out about offshore refugees

Six Australian faith leaders have called on the government to resettle the remaining refugees still held in offshore detention who will not be included in the USA and NZ refugee resettlement options.

In an open letter, the faith leaders said “a practical way must be found as soon as possible” to resettle the hundreds of asylum seekers still on Manus Island and Nauru.

The six leaders are Rabbis Shamir Caplan and Fred Morgan, Bishops Philip Huggins and Vincent Long, Imam Riad Galil and Sheik Abu Omar.

“We urge our policy-makers to bring this situation to a close,” they added.
