Former principal of Adass Israel school will face 29 charges of child sexual abuse. Look out for The Jewish Independent’s special coverage.

The long-awaited trial of Malka Leifer begins in the Melbourne County Court today, with the former principal of Adass Israel school to face 70 charges of child sexual abuse. 

The first day will be given over to empanelling the jury. Opening addresses by the prosecution and defence are scheduled to begin on Wednesday. 

The trial, before judge Mark Gamble, is expected to run for six weeks.
